Williamsville Homework Assignment Sparks Outrage From Parents
The Williamsville Central School District has addressed outrage on Tuesday, stemming from a homework assignment that was given out by a Spanish teacher.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Williamsville Central School District says they are aware of a homework assignment that was posted to social media and call it "unacceptable."
The school district says it was created and handed out by the teacher. They have condemned the homework assignment, and say they "do not condone any instructional material that denigrates our students, families, culture, or beliefs."
"We are addressing the situation to ensure this does not happen again. The District does not condone any instructional material that denigrates our students, families, culture, or beliefs. Our goal as a District is to create an intentionally welcoming learning environment, celebrating our community and its diversity. This assignment fails to meet our standards and will be dealt with appropriately."

The Williamsville Central School District is holding a board of education meeting at 7 pm tonight.
WIVB shared what the homework assignment consisted of, which consisted of asking students to translate English sentences into Spanish.
Two lines/examples said, "You are Mexican and ugly," while the other sentence further down the worksheet said, "You are pretty and American."
As of now, there is no word on what kind of actions have been taken by the school district in regards to the homework assignment.
