There is a really unique and special opportunity that is coming to the Western New York area this year. The Wall That Heals, traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall, will be setting up in Tonawanda and you are invited to help with the exhibit.

The Wall That Heals will be open to the public, 24 hours a day at Veterans Memorial Park, 777 Niagara Street, City of Tonawanda

According to a press release provided to Townsquare Media,

The 2nd most visited U.S. memorial is coming to the City of Tonawanda, July 22-25, 2021. The Wall That Heals is a 3/4 size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (“The Wall”) in Washington, DC, which has more visitors each year than every other U.S. memorial except the Lincoln Memorial. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and this replica, contain the names of the 58,281 U.S. service men and women who were killed during the Vietnam War

An exhibit like this requires 24 hour attention and staff. Organizers are asking for anyone who is willing and able to volunteer in a variety of ways. From assisting visitors at the wall to traffic and education, there are some great opportunities to be part of this rare event in the Western New York area.

The veterans of the Vietnam War deserve our respect and attention and this wall carries the names of so many family and friends who paid the ultimate price in the name of freedom. For those visiting who were part of the Vietnam War, it is sure to be an emotional experience and perhaps something that does in fact heal the wounds they have carried with them since they left combat.
