Space is terrifying; at this point, that much is beyond debate. All people do there is die! (And make game-changing scientific discoveries, sure, but at what cost?) Space tried to murder Sandra Bullock in Gravity, it came back for Matthew McConaughey in Interstellar, and that’s not even counting all the space-set films that are supposed to be horrifying. None moreso than Ridley Scott’s 1979 masterpiece Alien, back in the news these days due to its upcoming sequel Alien: Covenant, the trailer for which made for a primo excuse to leave the dinner table and its various political arguments this Christmas night.

New HBO NOW Releases: June 2016
Game of Thrones Season 6 comes to an end in June (so soon!), but luckily HBO NOW has plenty of viewing options to help keep you occupied during your annual mourning period. Next month brings the premiere of HBO’s new weekly series Any Given Wednesday with Bill Simmons, hosted by the renowned sports analyst, author and ESPN vet. Cinephiles, meanwhile, will be thrilled to see the addition of Ridley Scott’s The Martian and (maybe) David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars. But more importantly, the epic Problem Child trilogy is coming to HBO NOW in June, giving you a chance to engage in a fierce familial debate over the finer points of Junior’s schemes — surely a more contentious topic than the resurrection of Jon Snow.

The cast of Ridley Scott’s new Alien prequel just keeps growing — and getting more interesting, but for as much as we like the actors signing on for Alien: Covenant, it’s going to be kind of a bummer watching them get slaughtered by Xenomorphs and also, presumably, Michael Fassbender. The latest batch of actors to join the cast of Scott’s prequel includes Spotlight’s Billy Crudup, Empire’s Jussie Smollett, indie favorite Amy Seimetz and more.

‘Prometheus’ Sequels Will Explain Where Aliens Came From
You see, when a male Xenomorph and a Queen Xenomorph love each other very, very much… Hopefully Ridley Scott will have a more eloquent explanation for the origins of the terrifying aliens designed by H.R. Giger, as the director has revealed that his Prometheus sequels will shine some light on where the mysterious creatures come from. Scott will have some additional assistance in that regard, as Spectre writer John Logan has come aboard to revise the screenplay for the sequel.
