The mild Western New York winter is giving road crews an opportunity to get a jump start on area construction projects.

The New York State Thruway Authority will begin construction on the ramp from the I-290 eastbound to the I-90 eastbound (heading towards the Williamsville Tolls). All traffic heading in that direction will be detoured into one lane of traffic on Wehrle Drive, and then back onto the ramp. This project will last throughout the summer.

In Orchard Park, road crews will start working on a portion of Route 277 to help rehabilitate Chestnut Ridge Road. Starting on Wednesday, March 16th, Ellicott Road will be closed at the intersection of Route 277, and traffic will be detoured to access Ellicott Road from New Armor Road for the 3 months or so.

In Monroe County, the Thruway Authority will be replacing the Union Street overpass. The overpass will close starting today, and remained closed through the Fall of 2016. Detours signs will be posted.
