If you were hoping to see the Northern Lights flash across New York this week, get ready to be disappointed.

Apparently, there has been some back and forth between major news networks and scientists about whether a solar flare popped this week on the sun that would cause the Northern Lights to be visible across 17 states including New York.

CBS News Tweeted this out on July 7th.


 

It would be awesome if it was true, but the folks over at the Space Weather Center's Twitter page took offense to the prediction put out by CBS News.

Even if it was true that the Northern Light could be visible, you might not have seen them anyways since a major storm front is expected in the area and it is going to be cloudy and rainy on Thursday and Friday.
