We have been dealing with high gas prices all year long, but soon Erie County could end up with the lowest gas prices in the entire state of New York.

The New York State "Gas Tax Holiday" is set to expire on December 31st and that means the price of gas will go up across the state.

The average cost of gas dropped by around 16 cents per gallon across the state and dropped even further when Erie County also adopted its own "Gas Tax Holiday".

Now that the New York State tax holiday is set to expire on December 31st, the cost of gas will increase across the state, but it looks like it will be cheaper here in Erie County.

The Erie County "Gas Tax Holiday" is set to expire on February 28th, 2023. That means that the average cost of a gallon of gas will be lower here in Erie County than across the state.

Will it be the lowest, it could be? Several other counties across the state also pass their own "Gas Tax Holiday". Those holidays all have different end dates as well.

So far, the savings in Erie County has been around .11 cents per gallon while the state gas tax holiday has been saving people around .16 cents per gallon.

So while the price of gas will go up on January 1st, 2023, the prices here in Erie County will be lower than the rest of the state because of the county tax gas holiday.
