Then Vs Now: The Last Time Buffalo hosted And Won A MNF Game
The Buffalo Bills are gearing up for another Monday Night Football game this week as they play host to the New England Patriots.
If you are hoping for a win at home, you don't have history on your side. The last time the Buffalo Bills won a home Monday Night Football game the team and Western New York looked very very different.
The last time the Bills won a Monday Night football game in the 716 area code was back on September 26th, 1994. Yes, it was almost 30 years ago when the Bills last home a Monday night Football game at home.
Of course, the team looked very different as well. That team was coming off a run of four straight Superbowls and was led by Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, and Andre Reed.
They would go on to beat the John Elway led Denver Broncos 27-20. Thurman Thoams and Kenneth Davis led the offense for the Bills with Thomas rushing for 103 yards and two touchdowns.
Jim Kelly had an off-night throwing for only 178 yards. He was intercepted once and sacked twice.
The Bills defense held John Elway to 280 passing yards and one touchdown. The defense got one inception and a total of four sacks. Cornelious Bennett had 2 sacks while Bruce Smith and Phil Hansen each tallied once.
The Bills were 6.5 point favorites and the over/under was 49 points.
Hopefully, the Bills can end the current losing streak at home on Monday night football this Monday night against the New England Patriots and take over the top spot in the AFC East.
