Famous Actor Will Speak At Western New York Graduation

A famous actor is extending his stay in Western New York as graduation season is underway. 

There are so many celebrities that have Buffalo hometown pride: Wolf Blitzer, Chad Michael Murray, NFL Commissioner Roger Gooddell, and more! But one famous actor returned to Buffalo last week for a few reasons, and he’s planning to stay for an extra few days, 

William Fichtner, for his television roles as Alexander Mahone on “Prison Break,” Sheriff Tom Underlay on “Invasion,” and Carl Hickman on “Crossing Lines,” was in town to promote his new movie “Hypnotic.” You can see the trailer below. 

Fichtner plays a major role in the film, and he spent some time talking with News 4 last week ahead of the premiere. 

He also took the time to attend the 5/14 memorial service on Sunday that honored those 10 lives that were tragically taken from us one year ago. 

Fichtner will be wrapping up his visit to Western New York this weekend after attending the Villa Maria College commencement on Saturday. The college asked him to deliver the commencement speech, and Fichtner wants to make sure his words are meaningful.

A graduate from SUNY Brockport, the actor majored in criminal justice, and when he was preparing to walk the stage, he was already considering other options and questioning what it is he wanted to do in life.

“After four years of college my eyes had opened up to other things,” Fichtner told our friends at News 4. “I think that’s exactly where graduates should be, especially after college.”
