Tis the season to be jolly. What to eat or what not to eat. The holidays are about cheer and welcoming in a new year.  Sometimes the new year brings along 5-10 lbs from last year or shall I say last month. When your planning your holiday menu, don't forget to incorporate your healthy foods.

Here's a list of foods that can help keep you at bay. Who says you have to bring in the new year on a treadmill 2 hours a day?

1. Apples

I guess it's true what they say. An apple a day can keep the doctor away. Apples are loaded with fiber, easy to pack and come in so many different varieties. At under 100 calories an apple you can snack away !!

2. Concord Grapes

They are loaded with antioxidants and they make a wonderful dessert. These are wonderful by the handful and you'll get a healthy dose of fiber.

3. Sweet Potatoes

This is one potato I could eat all day. SP's are full of beta carotene and other healthy vitamins and minerals. these are great to pick up this time of year, Their always on sale around the holidays. Try eating this naturally sweet veggie as a dessert like Christie Brinkley

4. Cranberries

If you love a tart zing you will find it with cranberries. This little berry is low in calories and should be served along with any dish this holiday. Eat up !! Try adding a little allspice to your homemade cranberry sauce for added spice

5. Kale

I could go on forever about the benefits of Kale. There are way to many to include. Kale is loaded with  iron and zinc. In my opinion Kale gives you a healthy glowing complexion. I know what I will saute for dinner , what about you?
