If you've ever wondered how the military might respond to victims of a biological weapon -- without there being an actual biological weapon -- you might be interested in being a part of this.

There's a local call for "casualty role players" to assist with a training exercise for the National Guard.

The company Human Domain Solutions is advertising they are hiring for participants for a National Guard emergency response training exercise on April 16 - 17, near East Amherst.

We are training the unit to support their mission which is to man, train and equip a homeland response force that can provide a response capability to assist civil authorities in saving lives and mitigating suffering in response to a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives incident.

HDS CRPs and Actors will assist by providing realistic training aimed at purposefully strengthening security and resilience through systematic preparation for threats that pose the greatest risk to the security of the nation.

To be eligible, Human Domain Solutions mentions while there's no security clearance requirement, participants will need to pass criminal background checks and U.S. employment eligibility checks. Participants must have appropriate ID, and no past felony convictions.

However, this exercise many not be appropriate for all people. From HDS's website:

Also, due to a potentially strenuous decontamination process, and varying outside temperatures, CRPs should not have life-threatening or serious medical conditions.

You can earn between $100-$275. Here's what a Casualty Role Player will do:

CASUALTY ROLE PLAYER (CRP) – There are 25-40 open CRP positions to fill. CRPs will provide realism for Emergency responders who will exercise search and rescue, medical trauma treatment and first aid application in order to expand and strengthen communication, coordination and integration. This is why CRPs will be moulaged (application of injury makeup and fake blood) to portray various physical and emotional injuries and conditions, before going through simulated medical triage and decontamination processes multiple times during the exercise. HDS seeks diversity among our CRPs, including gender, ethnicity, age, body types, disabilities, and foreign language abilities. Participants fluent in American Sign Language are also desired. Priority will be given to those with previous experience with role playing, acting, military, and/or first responder/disaster response experience. Those who have participated in past disaster preparedness exercises have found it especially rewarding because you get to support an important community service that saves lives and protects the citizens of your state while getting paid to have FUN while doing so.
