Dancing Temporarily Stopped at Allen St. Hardware [VIDEO]

City officials received several letters and emails from residents in Allentown complaining about the partying and late-night noise in the area.

After an investigation, officials determined that the complaints were being made about one place in particular - Allen St. Hardware, located at 245 Allen Street in Buffalo.

Known as a popular restaurant during the day, Allen St. Hardware is also a popular spot to enjoy a few drinks and dance at night. Well, now the city is saying that the restaurant has been hosting dance patrons against a city ordinance.

The ordinance, which was established back in the 1970s and amended in 2008, requires all restaurants, bars and other establishments to apply for a permit to allow public dancing. Allen St. Hardware does not have the permit.

While the restaurant and front bar area at Allen St. Hardware remain open, it is the back room, that often hosts a DJ, that is in question. The room will need to be brought up to code with soundproof walls and other safety measures which will cost around $15,000 to $20,000 - It's a price that Charlie Goldman, the owner, is willing to pay.
