Today started with below zero wind chills, and we only warmed up to the mid-teens.

While that is not typically a rare occurrence, it is for the 2019-2020 winter season. This is the first time in the 2019-2020 season where temperatures reached the single digits, and could be the only as well.

It is a bit of a jolt after the warmer days earlier in the week.

Data shows this winter has yet to hold up to the typical winter experience in Western New York. This past January was the 9th warmest on record for Buffalo and the region is around 15" behind in snow accumulations.

As for coldest temp on Valentine's Day,

this is the second latest occurrence on record to experience single digit temperatures in the wintertime months. The record in this case is held by March 2, 1932.
