It looks for at least one day, inflation won't jack up the price of entertainment for New Yorkers.

In honor of National Cinema Day, movie theaters all across New York State and the country will charge only $3 per ticket in order to get more people back to theaters to see movies on the big screen.
According to WGRZ, the move to bring $3 movies to the public is the idea of The Cinema Foundation which is the non-profit wing of the National Association of Theater Owners.
Sept. 3 will be a nationwide discount day in more than 3,000 theaters and on more than 30,000 screens. Major chains, including AMC and Regal Cinemas, are participating, as are all major film studios. In participating theaters, tickets will be no more than $3 for every show, in every format.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, when movie theatres were shut down to help stop the spread of the virus, it has been a slow return to the theaters for moviegoers. One of the biggest issues was the shutdown of movie production during the pandemic which meant many movie release dates were pushed back.
Also as people have grown accustomed to watching first-run movies at home, fewer and fewer people were headed to the theaters.
One of the biggest movie theater chains in the country will be part of the $3 movie deal. Regal Cinema announced the $3 deal on their Twitter page.
Regal is hoping to jumpstart a return to theaters on what has been a historically slow weekend for in-theater movie watching.
