Before you left the house you might have pulled something from the freezer and placed it in the refrigerator to thaw. Nothing wrong with that but if you have gotten in the habit of washing raw chicken before you prepare it the CDC says STOP.

Chicken while a nutritious choice is often contaminated with bacteria, and washing it just causes the juices it is packed in to spread in the kitchen and contaminate other foods.

I can remember my grandmother leaving chicken in the sink soaking in water for hours before she prepared it. She probably never washed the cutting board, and heck we only got the flu a couple of times a month.

Seriously for your own health and that of your family, washing your chicken is nothing to balk about...see what I did there,,,(balk, balk)
