Leaving a pile of snow on your vehicle could soon come with a heavy fine in New York State.

Lawmakers in Albany are taking action to reduce the amount of snow blowing off one vehicle and hitting the windshield of another in the form of dust or chunks of ice.

State Assembly Members have drafted a bill that would result in a $150 ticket for failing to brush the snow off of your vehicle. Trucks would have to pay as much as $1,200 for having 3 inches or more.

The law would apply to all cars, trucks and vans, except emergency vehicles and vehicles with a handicap tag.

If the bill is approved, the money collected from "clean car" tickets would be used for snow removal by the State Department of Transportation and the Thruway Authority.

The "clean car" law is already in effect in Connecticut and New Jersey.
