There are so many places to go this year, but this is one place you have to see during the fall.

Fall foliage is expected to peak this weekend across New York State, and many people are flocking to national and state parks to get their seasonal dose of the fall season.

Recently, a list came out, ranking the top 10 New York State parks, and there are a few that are in Western New York.

However, they forgot to include one park that was recently voted as one of the World’s Best Places to Travel, according to one travel company.

Taughannock Falls State Park is a 750-acre state park located near Trumansburg, NY, just outside of Ithaca. It is about a two hour drive from Buffalo, NY.

The picture was taken during last fall, as the leaves are still turning right now, but you can see a video tour of the park below.

If you hike all the trails, it should take about 2-3 hours.

When we were visiting Taughannock Falls State Park, we started on the North Rim trail, and we had to cross the bridge to get there. It connects to the South Rim trail behind the upper falls, and then there is a gorge trail you can follow to get close to the 210 ft waterfall.

The pictures don’t do it justice. It is so beautiful there, yet it didn’t make the top 10 list for best parks in New York State.

If you missed it, here are the top 10 parks, ranked by PlanetWare.

  1. Letchworth State Park

  2. Niagara Falls

  3. Robert H. Treman State Park

  4. Hudson River Valley

  5. Rockefeller State Park Reserve

  6. Catskill State Park
