Apple the maker of the iPhone has settled a massive class-action lawsuit over the battery life on certain models of the iPhone.

The multi-million dollar settlement is expected to be paid out this October and thousands of dollars are expected to be available to those living in New York.

WHAT WAS THE LAWSUIT ABOUT?

A class action lawsuit was filed after people complained that certain models of iPhones would shut off even though the battery life showed more power left. By agreeing to a settlement, Apple is not admitting to any wrongdoing.

WHAT PHONES ARE PART OF THE LAWSUIT?

The iPhone models that are part of the lawsuit are the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus, and/or SE devices that ran iOS 10.2.1 or later or iPhone 7 and 7 Plus devices that ran iOS 11.2 or later.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM ELIGIBLE TO PART OF THE SETTLEMENT?

You will be part of the Settlement Class if you are or were (1) a United States owner of an iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus, and/or SE device (2) that ran iOS 10.2.1 or later or, in the case of iPhone 7 and 7 Plus devices, that ran iOS 11.2 or later before December 21, 2017. You also must have submitted a claim form to be part of the settlement.
