Lancaster! Downtown Lancaster Finally Gearing Up For $15 Million Project
If you live in Lancaster you know that this has been a struggle.
Downtown Lancaster is underwhelming to say the least and it's been nearly a 40 year journey to finally get the ball rolling to turn downtown Lancaster into a destination.
Right now Lancaster is about to see the sale of nearly 4 and half acres in downtown Lancaster. Ultimately, Developers Tom Sweeney and Dick Young both have some plans for downtown Lancaster that will get things moving. Here is what is propsed:
- More restaurants
- up to 48 midrange to upscale apartments
- Lancaster museum
- Offices for the village Chamber of Commerce
- A public park by the creek that Young has dubbed 'Cayuga Landing'
Sweeney's project includes the construction of 12 to 15 three-story buildings with brick façades, each measuring 5,000 to 6,000 square feet, he said. Commercial and service-industry enterprises are planned for the ground floors with apartments on the second and third floors, said Sweeney. Each apartment will range from 800 to 1,200 square feet with rents expected to range from $1,000 to $1,200", according to the Buffalo News.
