Gym Class Is Not Enough Exercise For Kids
New Federal guidelines for health say that children need to get active throughout the day -- not just after school, or during gym class or recess at school.
The new guidelines are the first put forth in ten years, and "highlight more of the benefits of regular exercise, from reducing the risk of at least eight different cancers to helping people think more clearly," according to NBC News.
The guidelines recommend Americans get 2.5 hours of exercise a week.
NBC News says, "Eighty percent of Americans fail to get enough exercise, the HHS said. That raises the risk of early death, the risk of depression and anxiety and the risk of diseases of aging, including Alzheimer’s."
