There are a couple of things in life that are certain, Death and Taxes.

Parents in New York can teach their kids about both of them this Halloween.

As a veteran father myself, I have to let every parent know that they have to do this one thing this Halloween. That is enact the Parent Candy Tax on their children.

WHAT IS THE PARENT CANDY TAX?

HOW DOES THE PARENT CANDY TAX WORK?

Just like in the United States, it is based on where you live. Some parents are tax-heavy and can charge a hefty 50% parent candy tax and take half of their kids' candy. Some parents are very laissez-faire and maybe do a 1 or 2% tax, where they will grab a piece of candy or two through the night. For most parents, a 10-20% parent candy tax works best. You get a nice assortment of candy, and your kids get a bunch of candy, but not too much to get a belly ache.

WHAT IF YOUR KIDS REBELS AGAINST THE PARENT CANDY TAX?

Like anyone, they can move to a location that has a better tax rate. For most kids, a move to grandma and grandpa for trick-or-treating will result in a much lower "candy tax" than if they stayed with mom and dad.

As they get older, some kids will go with just their friends and try to claim "tax-exempt" status and give no candy to their parents. Again it is how much the parent what to enforce the tax.

WHY DO PARENTS NEED TO ENFORCE THE CANDY TAX?

Well like I mentioned before, it helps your kids from overdoing it. Also, it helps other parents claim their "candy tax" If little Billy's parents impose the tax, it is easier for you to do so and on and on.
