Did you know that you can use popular songs to help you space out chest compressions for CPR?  Now, there's a full playlist of songs that work.

It was almost a year ago when Damar Hamlin from the Buffalo Bills experienced what they call Commotio Cordis on the field in Cincinnati.  The world seemed to stop and things came back into perspective for football fans around the entire country as team doctors began to perform CPR on him.  It was horrifying to think that someone could lose their life from playing a game like that.

Hamlin has made CPR education his life's mission

It was the quick action from the medical staff on the sidelines that helped to save him.  Since the on-field accident, Hamlin has made it his mission to do what he can to give back and continue to bring awareness to people everywhere about the importance of knowing CPR.

It is important that everyone knows how to administer CPR when it's needed, and how to do it correctly.

There is a way to learn CPR by using popular songs

You may have seen the scene in the TV show, "The Office" where the staff are all taking a CPR class after Stanley suffered a medical emergency in the office.  In the scene they tell the workers that they can do it correctly by using the beat of the Bee Gee's song "Stayin' Alive."

While this was meant to just be a funny scene, there is some truth to it.  A man in Tucson saved a woman's life just because he had seen it.

The American Heart Association has a playlist dedicated to CPR

There's enough truth to this method that the American Heart Association has put together a full Spotify playlist of other songs that people can use that can help them keep the beat.  They suggest a beat of around 100 - 120 beats per minute.  That is the beat at which the heart compressions should be performed.

While you should enroll in a CPR class to be sure to learn the correct method, if you're in a pinch, some of these songs might help.

Here are the top 5 songs from the 80's, 90's, and today on the American Heart Association's "Don't Drop The Beat" playlist:

1. Can't Stop The Feeling - Justin Timberlake

2. Uptown Funk - Mark Ronson, Bruno Mars

3. I Wanna Dance With Somebody - Whitney Houston

4. Bye, Bye, Bye - N'SYNC

5. Love Story (Taylor's Version) - Taylor Swift
