A recent proposal from NYSEG could raise your current bill by nearly 25%.

The proposal was made this past Monday for the proposed rate hike which could cost the average user around $10 more per month.

The new proposal if approved would go into effect in May of 2020.

With the additional rate hike, NYSEG would get an additional $157 million in revenue per year.

In a letter sent to the state, (Read it HERE) NYSEG said the extra money would be used for new meters, improvements to the electrical grid, and management of trees and other vegetation near powerlines and other infrastructure.

The Public Service Commission is set to review the request over the next 11 months and during that time, they will offer opportunities for public comment and for any concerned parties to file in opposition to the rate increases.
