You know it's going to happen this year.  You're going to get invited to an "Ugly Christmas Sweater" party...and you're going to have to go get one.

Why not show off your Buffalo pride with one of these ones?

Ugly Christmas Sweaters have been around forever.  According to PlaceIt.net, it all started in the 50s with sweaters that were called "Jingle Bell Sweaters."  They had the discreet Christmas decorations on them (a piece of holly or a reindeer) and they were never meant to be ugly at all.  They were actually just meant to be festive.

The party idea started in the 90's with a couple friends from Vancouver.  Eventually these parties got bigger and bigger and were being organized to support charities.  People started to search out the "Ugly Christmas Sweater" and google searches began to soar.

But over the last 10-15 years, they've become a fashion statement around this time of year.  They're just about everywhere and you can get them in just about every single pop culture category - from sports to music, to famous movie scenes.

Garth Brooks even wrote a song about it:

I grabbed my first Ugly Christmas Sweater a few years ago.  It was a Santa DJ that lit up.  There were LED lights all around the sweater..  Everybody has their thing that makes the sweater part of their personality.  So if you're looking for an incredible "Ugly Sweater" to make a statement at a party...one of these will definitely do it for you.
