Isn't home is supposed to be easier than a daily commute to the office?  I have personally been doing it for 6 months now... but interestingly a  survey conducted by OnePoll of 2,000 remote-working Americans is challenging what you and I might believe.

Over 6 out of 10 respondents say they are working longer remote hours these days than they ever did while in the office. Similarly, over 5 out of 10 are feeling more stressed than ever before due to all the demands that come with working from home.

Commuting to work daily can be a real pain in the neck, but a physical work location firmly establishes a barrier between work and play. When you spend you day working from home, that line tends to blur. Perhaps that’s why we find ourselves struggling to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Many respondents (62%) say that their employer is “pressuring” them to work harder and do more – just because they are now working from home. Moreover, 67% feel extra pressure to be available at all hours of the day.

The research, commissioned by CBDistillery, also asked participants about the latest they’ve clocked out of work while working remotely. The average respondent’s answer to that question was 7:17 PM, but 26% admit they’ve worked until 10 P.M. A few have kept busy until two o’clock in the morning.

Respondents in the survey said they believe that if they don’t work long hours and put in that “extra effort,” their job security will be in jeopardy.

The majority of those surveyed also feel like their employer is now “discouraging” vacation time ever since they started working from home.

I personally have had no pressure from my company regarding longer hours or vacation time.  Our HR department has actually encouraged me to use all my vacation this year.  My company has really put an emphasis on employee health during the entire pandemic.

I do however sometimes find myself working more at home for two reasons...it is convenient and easy to do, and with social distancing guidelines, my social activities are somewhat curtailed.

7 out of 10 respondents said they wished their employer offered more resources and guidance on how to deal with pandemic-related/remote work-related stress.
