It's always an uneasy feeling when you witness a physical altercation at a public place. It doesn't happen very often, but can be uncomfortable for anyone present when it does. That was the case at the Denny's in West Seneca two weeks ago.

According to the West Seneca Police Department's blotter report, there was a physical altercation at the Denny's located on Ridge Road in West Seneca that took place on Thursday, September 30th.

West Seneca Police says it began when a woman and her child's grandmother had a verbal argument about the woman being intoxicated.

That's when there was a tug-of-war over the child by the woman and grandmother. That's when Denny's employees tried to break up the altercation, but the woman punched three of them and broke one staff member's glasses.

Police arrested the woman when they arrived and she was charged with three counts of harassments, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, disorderly conduct and endangering the welfare of a child.

The Denny's staff members were look at by emergency medical services but were okay and did not go to the hospital.

It's scary that a physical altercation between family members can escalate that quickly and at a public place like that. It's a relief that the situation did not become worse than it did and a credit to police in West Seneca.
