WNY School Bus Driver Charged With DWI While Students Were On It

When your children go off on a school bus every morning or on the way home from school in the afternoon, the last thing you want is for the school bus driver to be driving impaired -- but that's what happened recently in Western New York.

According to WKBW, the Erie County Sheriff's Office has arrested and charged a school bus driver with DWI, after he allegedly drove a bus while children were riding on it.

The driver was pulled over after a Seneca Nation of Indians Marshal witnessed the bus swerving into oncoming traffic along NY Route 438 and Woodchuck Road in Cattaraugus County.

63-year-old Marianne Clayton failed her field sobriety test and it was discovered she was impaired by drugs. Nine children from Gowanda Central School were on the bus when it was pulled over, as they were heading for Lakeshore BOCES. All parents were notified of the incident.

This is absolutely petrifying. When your child goes onto a school bus, the last thing you want is for the school bus driver to be impaired by drugs or alcohol. The good news is the students are fine and there was not an accident, but obviously, if a bus is swerving into the oncoming traffic lane, that means this bus was in danger.

Thankfully it was pulled over before anything happened.
