The snowstorm pelting Western New York has reached a new height. The National Guard is now coming to help.

It is predicted that areas could experience up to a total of 70 to 75 inches of snow before the storm passes. The National Guard troops will include 150 personnel, state officials told The Buffalo News.

I-90 has been shut down in both directions between the PA line and Henrietta due to the lake effect snow storm.

Approximately 140 vehicles are stuck around the Lackawanna toll barrier, according to WKBW. In addition to the National Guard being deployed to Erie County to help clear the roadways the Department of Transportation is sending in eight plows as well as 36 operators and supervisors. The NY DOT has 410 snowplows in Western New York for the storm.
