Predicting the weather here in Western New York is the ultimate guessing game. From looking at Bear Woolly Caterpillars to Scientific data we compile our outlook for Winter Weather for this year.

Our 1st guess was that it was going to be a colder winter than expected due to the fact that area Bear Woolly Caterpillars had more black then rust on them this year.

Then the scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says that Western New York will be impacted by an "El Nino" weather system that will bring warmer wetter winter.

Finally, we checked in with our "Old Faithful" The Farmer's Almanac. They are calling for a warmer than normal start to our Winter, but then cooler in December with more snow than normally expected in January and February.

Winter will be warmer and rainier than normal, with near-normal snowfall. The coldest periods will be in mid- and late December, early and late January, and early February. The snowiest periods will be in early December, early and late January, early February, and mid-March.
