Another winter storm is expected to dump over a foot of heavy snow on Western New York through tomorrow morning.  The snow is expected to continue all day today, Thursday, February 3, 2022.  With the two major storms we've already had since the beginning of the year, the last thing we need is more snow.

The National Weather Service updated its winter storm warning at 4 am this morning.  The warning is in effect until 10 am tomorrow.  Niagara, Erie, Chautauqua, and Cattaraugus counties will be affected. The majority of heavy snowfall will be this afternoon and evening,

Significant snowfall. TOTAL snow accumulations of 7 to 13 inches. Snowfall of just an inch or two will coat some untreated secondary roadways this morning. Most of the snow accumulation will be later this afternoon through the first half of tonight. Additional minor accumulations will be possible late tonight and Friday.

The temperature in Buffalo will remain below 30 degrees today.

Many regions in New York will also be hit by snowstorms today and into the weekend. Governor Kathy Hochul issued a warning to New Yorkers,

We’re now in the thick of winter and this newest storm is poised to hit us with everything in the weather arsenal – heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain,” said Governor Hochul. “I have directed our state agencies to prepare emergency response assets and they are ready to help local governments, if needed. There is much uncertainty with this storm, but we are monitoring forecasts and models and ready for whatever Mother Nature throws our way. As always, New Yorkers need to be vigilant, monitor weather conditions and avoid any unnecessary travel until the storm passes.
