Another Big winning lottery ticket was sold in Western New York recently.  If you happened to stop into the Tops Friendly Market at 658 W Main St, in the village of Arcade to buy a Take 5 ticket, you just might want to check your numbers.

The evening drawing yesterday, with the numbers 6, 21, 25, 26, and 34 had 48,778 total winners.  But only one ticket was an exact match on all 5 numbers, and that winning ticket was worth $39,688.00!

This follows a winning Take 5 lottery ticket that was sold at Corner Market on Potters Road in West Seneca on April 7th, and a ticket that was purchased at Corner Market in Sloan on Broadway that was worth nearly $3 million dollars.

Winners in New York State have one year to claim their winnings. According to Fox Business, Americans forego about $2 billion in total unclaimed prize money annually. In fact, one Mega Millions winner let $63 Million Dollars go unclaimed here in New York Sate back in 2002.  In 2016, $103 million dollars in lottery winnings went unclaimed in New York.

The money that New York makes from the sale of lottery tickets is distributed to local school districts based on the school district's size and it's income level.

Looking to get lucky yourself?  New York State offers ten different draw-based games for you to try, including Take 5, New York Lotto, Pick Ten, Cash for Life, Quick Draw, Powerball, Win 4 and more.
