The pandemic has been throwing us curveballs for almost a year and a half.  So to hear that an event has changed again is nothing new.  This time it's the 2021 Wingfest.

It was exciting to hear that Wingfest would be back this year after going virtual last year.  Of course, we knew there would be changes, and this year, there have been plenty.

The venue was the biggest change.  It's going to be big this year.  They've moved to the home of the Buffalo Bills - Highmark Stadium.

One of the other big changes was the format of the whole event.  They originally said that they would offer timed sessions throughout the weekend.  It was going to be 3 sessions on Saturday and then 2 additional sessions on Sunday.

That has changed. According to organizers that spoke with WIVB, they said it will now be a general admission all-day event.

“While planning the festival for 2021, safety protocols which are now expired for outdoor events, led festival organizers to incorporate timed sessions. Many Wingfest fans have urged us to go back to a general admission format, as in the past, while maintaining the safest environment as possible for our attendees to enjoy. This is what we have done,” -Festival founder Drew Cerza

Another bonus, aside from the extra space that Highmark Stadium will offer, is access to free parking at the event.

Another change is that tickets were going to have to be purchase ahead of time when the sessions were going to be timed.  Now, they will be able to provide tickets at the gate when you get there.

Wingfest will be here on Labor Day Weekend September 4, 12-9 p.m., and Sunday, September 5, 12-7 p.m.
