I've lived in Western New York my entire life, but I haven't lived in the same town the entire time. I spent most of my time growing up in North Amherst and then in 2013, I moved to Hamburg. I currently reside in South Buffalo, which I'm really enjoying.

I spent five years living in Hamburg and it's where my parents still live. I went to Buffalo State College for two years, so I drove down Route 5 (Lake Shore Road) nearly every day during that time.

The stretch of road between when the expressway ends at Ridge Road and to the Ford Plant is a stretch of road too many drivers speed down. In fact, you could also say that about the intersection at Big Tree and down through Wanakah.

The speed limit is 40 mph for most of that stretch of Lake Shore Rd, but you might never know it if you're new to the area. People come off the expressway (when it's 55 mph) and continue to drive over 50 or even 60 mph through a 40 mph speed zone.

I've seen SO many drivers get pulled over by Hamburg Police and even some Lackawanna Police over the years.

I'm not really sure anything can be done other than stricter enforcement, but there are sometimes pedestrians walking across the street and the stretch of Lake Shore after Hoak's is just two lanes and no median...so, there isn't much space between oncoming drivers; and it's even more dangerous in the winter.

Has anyone else noticed this who lives in the Hamburg area?
