It's the seat in a car that nobody really wants. Research done at UB says it's probably the safest seat in your car when an accident happens. Which seat is it?...

Most people believe, correctly as it turns out, that the rear seat is safer than the front in case of accident [up to 86 percent safer, depending on whose results you use]. Enter research done by the University at Buffalo. The study revealed that the middle seat was 25 percent safer than either window seat!

Why is the middle seat safest? When a car gets hit, or runs into something, the middle seat is always farthest from the point of impact. So learn to deal with that hump in the middle of the floor, and grab the middle seat whenever you can, It's safer for you there.
