AAA experts are predicting the highest Thanksgiving travel volume in a dozen years, with 54 million Americans expected to travel, and that includes loads of folks in WNY.  What we won't do to get some homemade pumpkin pie!

So, when is the best time to hit the road, based on a New York travel site?

  • Best Time To Leave Before Thanksgiving: 6 a.m. Thanksgiving
  • Worst Time To Leave Before Thanksgiving: 3 p.m. Wednesday
  • Best Time To Leave After Thanksgiving: 6 a.m. Sunday
  • Worst Time To Leave After Thanksgiving: 3 p.m. Sunday

According to WIVB news, "The Buffalo Niagara International airport was calm this past weekend, but with WIVB weather-predicting high winds Wednesday night, things might get iffy.

That said most folks are driving, not flying and hitting the road between Wednesday and Sunday. Let's just hope the winds blow away and we all get to everywhere safely.
