They're delicious.

They're fattening.

They're a Lenten tradition and we LOVE them.

But what's the price to pay, calorically-speaking?

The typical paczki can run anywhere from 500 to 1,000 calories, depending on the recipe.  We did a little math for you to figure out just how many repetitions of certain exercises you'd have to do to burn one off.

Let's average it out to 700 calories perpaczki for our purposes.

To burn off ONE paczki, you'd have to do:

  • 7,000 sit-ups
  • 2 HOURS of Zumba
  • 2 HOURS of jumping-jacks
  • run 7-10 miles
  • jump rope for one hour
  • swim for 68 minutes straight

Is it worth it?

Pretty sure we just heard all of Buffalo say "YES!" :)

So what else "costs" about 700 calories?

  • 3 slices of cheese and pepperoni pizza from Little Caesar's
  • 5 cans of Coke
  • 4.5 tacos from Taco Bell
  • 4 Krispy Kreme glazed donuts

There are just SO many wonderful food options in Buffalo, it can make it tough (especially at THIS time of year) to stick to your diet.  But I suppose that's the beauty of giving up something for Lent.  If yesterday was your last "Fat Tuesday" hurrah before you put the kibosh on fried delights, and you celebrated with 1, 2, or 15 paczki's, we salute you!

Now drop and give me 20! (million)
