As a rule, as soon as people's parents find out something's cool, it's no longer cool.  At least that's how history has repeated itself since the beginning of time, but who am I to argue.

A Reddit conversation just came out where people talked about things that were once very cool....but SO are not anymore.  Some of the highlights:

  • Pushing people into pools (we all have electronics in our pockets now, so this prank is now an expensive disaster with potential lawsuits attached)
  • Items with "Keep Calm" phrases, like "Keep Calm and Drink Coffee" or anything of the like
  • Wearing silicone wristbands for different causes
  • Wearing a backpack with both shoulder straps (wearing both is cool again, now)
  • Smoking

We got on a BIG tangent about what was cool/not cool/is cool again.

I graduated from Jamestown High School in 1993 (See embarrassing pics here).  Here's what made my short list:

...pants pinned so tight at the bottom you lost circulation in your feet....Drakkar Noir...a row of different colored scrunchies in your hair that perfectly matched the colored layered socks that peaked out of your Balloons hightops....AIM....

YOUR comments were great!

...jelly shoes...butterfly hair clips (like 10 of them)...turtlenecks under EVERYTHING...acid wash...Motorola Razr....Bastad clogs...friendship bracelets...friendship beads on safety pins which you then put on your shoes....

What would you add to the list?
