What The Honeycrisp? Gala Beats Out Red Delicious For America’s Favorite Apple

After spending more than 50 years on the top of the apple basket -- forecasters have declared the Gala apple, America's favorite.

WGRZ reports the U.S. Apple Association "predicted that the U.S. would grow 52.4 million Gala apples in 2018, up 5.9 percent from a year earlier." Red Delicious apple production is down a little over 10 percent.

The U.S. Apple Association ranks the Granny Smith in third place, Fugi at fourth, and Honeycrisp in fifth.
