Finally a survey of what Dad's really want for Father's Day (insert sarcastic tone of voice here)...Let's see what the survey says...

1. Phone call from the kids

2. A big steak

3. Peace and quiet

4. To watch what he wants on TV

5. A cheap practical gift

I only agree with one of those items and that is a phone call from my kids.  Personally, I could care less about gifts. A card or a handwritten note, or even a call or a hug from my kids would be just fine.

This will be the first Father's Day without my Dad, just typing that had me pause to reflect. I am sure the day will be filled with mixed emotions. The joy of my kids and their families, and the memories of my Dad and family.

So this Father's Day instead of searching high and low for a gift, why don't you give Dad some of your time.
