Your cellphone dings...it's an email from Amazon about a Daily Deals...and you immediately feel "guilty" about purchasing something for yourself. But how deep of a discount do you need for it to be a totally guilt-free about a purchase?

The magic number apparently is 23%...it must be a 23% discount.

The survey, conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Slickdeals, found that the top reason consumers feel guilty about buying something is because they later stumble upon the same item at a better price (57 percent). The second biggest reason was because there could have been a better use of their money.

Here are a few items that we feel most guilty about:

  • Eating out
  • Clothes
  • Electronics
  • Cosmetics
  • Their passions

I'm a gadget freak, I love the Apple watch, my iPhone, iPad. I have no problem buying gifts for someone else, but I have to rationalize a way to buy something for me.

I really want this now, but a week from now will I be tired of it?  Why can't I just be tired of it now and not buy it?

Gotta' run Amazon is calling.
