Western New York: Prepare For A Literal HEATWAVE This Week

An exceptionally long stretch of hot, humid weather is shaping up for this week. The increasing heat, combined with humidity, will make for dangerously high heat indices making it difficult especially for the very young, seniors, and those contending with health complications. Heat indices reaching into the middle 90s by the middle of the week will rise to around 100 Thursday-Friday. Actual air temperatures build into the middle 90s by late week along with nighttime low temperatures only dipping into the middle 70s.
Most areas will stay dry this week, some afternoon pop-up showers and thunderstorms will be possible every day this week, in the hills southeast of Buffalo. A few more widespread showers and thunderstorms Friday and Saturday will bring temperatures back into the 80s, but still quite warm through the middle of July.

Keep the sunscreen ready, and keep hydrated...also watch out for pets, make sure that if they are outside they have shade and water.
With the lack of rain, it's advised to be alert to fire dangers posed by "leftover fireworks" or backyard firepits.
