A national contest was held during the first three weeks of the month of March where people voted and made a donation to their favorite local animal shelter.

One local Western New York shelter took home the grand prize of $5000. The Ten Lives Club which is a non-profit animal shelter that focuses on cats was named the winner of the March Muttness challenge sponsored by Pacifico Beer.

The Ten Lives Club has been in Western New York for over 20 years and according to their website, they have saved over 35,000 cats.

We are a no-kill shelter that takes in friendly cats that would otherwise be homeless or euthanized.  For the past 20 years, Ten Lives Club has saved the lives of or assisted more than 35,000 cats in need. We rely solely on donations and constant fundraising to assist the hundreds of cats and kittens that pass through our care each year.

The Ten Lives Club beat out 31 other animal shelters across the country to take home the grand prize.

Overall The Ten Lives Club received $13,701 in donations during the competition and will now also get an extra $5000 on top of that for a total of $18,701 raised during March Muttness.
