Western Medicine, Health and Healing Expo This Saturday
There is an exciting event that Country 1065 WYRK invites you to join us for this weekend!
The JC Seneca Foundation is presenting it's first ever Health & Healing Expo at the Tallchief Outdoor Events Center on July 31st from 10a - 3pm.
This is a free event that will be open to the public and starts at 10 AM this Saturday. The goal is to offer those who join us information on health and healing for your body your mind and your spirit! Representatives from traditional medicine and treatment groups as well as holistic healers and nutritionist will be presenting on stage and also offering one on one instruction.
We spoke with J.C. Seneca about the event and how this expo will also Honor the remains of Indigenous Children discovered in mass graves of government-run boarding schools.
I thought it was important to incorporate a Talking/Healing circle to address the many forms of racism that exist in our community---to try and provide peace among us. What I didn’t anticipate was the continuing stream of stories out of Canada, along with U.S. Interior Secretary Haaland’s recent announcement of her investigation, all focused on the ‘mass grave’ remains of Native children being found on the grounds of former Indigenous boarding schools. It is a disturbing story that rings true for many Native people
For those who have not gotten a vaccine yet, this may also be a great opportunity to fight against COVID-19! The Urban Family Practice will be on hand to offer COVID-19 Johnson and Johnson and Pfizer vaccine in a walk up situation! For more information you can also call 716-934-5130. I am looking forward to being a part of this and there was even a morning meditation that starts at 8 AM before the expo! Hope to see you there.
If you are interested, you can find us at the Tallchief Outdoor Event Center located behind Native Pride travel plaza in Irving. Take Route five and 20, or the 90 and get off at The Silver Creek exit and follow the signs to native pride.
