Another success for the organizers of the St. Patrick's Parade in downtown Buffalo over the weekend. With thousands attending and only 10 arrests, the parade goers seemed to be well behaved, for the most part.

The scene along Delaware Avenue is definitely full of green! But what does it look like form above? Way above?

Peter Cimino posted this footage he captured with his drone on Sunday. Although he couldn't get as close as he would have liked to, it is a great bird's eye view of the fun!

Buffalo has been ranked the best place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and for good reason. The fact that we have two parades (The Valley Parade and the Downtown Parade) is juts the beginning of what has become an entire month of celebration!

It' has been a long time since I was able to attend a parade on St. Patrick's weekend. When we were kids, it was one of the coolest things that we did as a family. My father made an entire day out of parade day. We would travel Route 16 (Seneca St) all the way in from East Aurora. It seemed like a long trip when I was young. After finding a parking spot and walking to find out spot along the route on Delaware Ave., we would watch the parade and wait for the floats to roll by and collect whatever treats they had to toss our way. One item that stands out in memory is the green Lender's bagels, individually wrapped.
The parade was followed by an early dinner at The Irish Center and the trip back home for some green cupcakes or shamrock cookies for dessert!
I look forward to taking my family to the parade in the coming years and starting new traditions.
