Spring-Like Warm-Up Expected this Week in Western New York

Mother Nature can be a fickle woman.  Just last weekend, we had temperatures in the mid-60s across Western New York.  Granted, there were wind gusts upwards of 70 MPH, but it was still nice to be able to have the windows open at the house and air things out a bit.

Then in typical Western New York March fashion, temps took a steady dive throughout the week, bottoming out with sub-zero wind chills on Sunday for most of the region.  And, as we all prepared to celebrate St. Patrick's day later this week, there was plenty of white on the ground.  Some towns saw up to 9" of snow on the ground on Sunday according to meteorologist Mike Cejka.

But, there is good news on the way, as a spring-like warm-up will make its way into our area later this week.  According to AccuWeather, we should see the snow come to an end later this evening, and then a steady warming trend kicks in.  We should see a bit of sun on Monday, with temps peeking around 48 degrees. On Tuesday, things regress a bit with a high of 44 and rain expected on and off throughout the day.

From there, things continue to get better throughout the week.  On Wednesday, we can expect a mix of sun and clouds, with a high of 49. And then on St. Patrick's Day, we can expect sun in the morning, some clouds in the afternoon, and a spring-like high of 59 degrees.  A perfect day to get your Irish on, or check out the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament at the KeyBank Center.
