An Epi Pen can be a lifesaving medication for those with serious allergies, and Walgreens is making a generic alternative available for free.

WHEC reports "The drug store is teaming up with a company that makes an EpiPen alternative called Auvi-Q amid an EpiPen shortage."

Fortune magazine reports the shortage of EpiPens is due to  manufacturing problems at Pfizer.

"Kaleo’s Auvi-Q is a different kind of epinephrine auto-injector," reports Fortune. For customers with insurance, it will be made available at no out-of-pocket cost.
