You're Invited To Community Forum On Violence In Buffalo Tonight

You are invited to a community forum on violence in Buffalo tonight, Thursday, February 24, 2022. The 'No Excuses' Community Forum will take place at the Frank E. Merriweather Branch Library's Dr. Eva M. Doyle Auditorium located at 1324 Jefferson Avenue in Buffalo, from 5 pm to 8 pm.

The panel will feature:

- Bishop Frederick A. Gelsey, Sr., Founder of The Homicide Education & Prevention Project [THEPP], and Founder & Senior Pastor of One In Christ Temple
- Buffalo Public School Board Member, Former Ferry District Member, and Former Board President Ms. Sharon Belton-Cottman
- Every Day People [EDP] Managing Partner & Community Activist Mr. Jesse A. Doyle
- WNY Community Bulletin Board Co-Founder Mr. Lamarr Smith
- Covington Associates Consulting [CAC | Buffalo] Founder & President, and We Are Women Warriors Organization's Special Projects Facilitator Ms. Sherry Sherrill

The panel will be moderated by Betty Jean Grant. Audience questions and comments are encouraged.

Deadly and potentially fatal acts of violence are occurring in our community, and all across the United States. Of particular concern are those incidents that have already taken place here in Buffalo, and are at risk of continuing to unfold in the lives of we residents, and our children. Other urban municipalities of similar and larger sized populations are demanding answers and solutions to The Problem, as our community's youths, including babies, are being confronted in or near their schools, and even nearby or in their homes. We must unite, and arrive to discuss the urgency of this situation, and do our utmost best to come to a resolution that addresses the issue of community violence aimed at youths, as comprehensively and as quickly as is possible. Join Us For A Town Hall About Preventing Youth Violence In Buffalo

Power 93.7 WBLK will be hosting a town hall about preventing youth violence in Buffalo. Join Yasmin Young and our special guests starting at 10 am on Saturday, February 26 for the on-air conversation. For an hour on Saturday morning, we'll stop the music to talk about this important issue facing our community. We are losing too many young people to violence and the streets. It's spilling over into our schools and has long-term effects on the youth. We've asked community leaders, members of anti-violence community groups, and the City to be a part of the discussion.
