Disappointing news for college seniors at the University at Buffalo and Buffalo State as both schools announced today that the May commencement ceremonies will be postponed, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Here's a statement from Buffalo State president, Katherine Conway-Turner, courtesy of WIVB:

“I wish I could provide you with a specific date and format now, but given the anticipated progression if the public health crisis we face, it would be premature to select a new date at this time,” said college president Katherine Conway- Turner.

No rescheduled dates have been announced but both schools are expected to provide more information shortly.

I cannot imagine how difficult this must be for both college and high school seniors who were due to graduate this spring. The last semester is supposed to be a celebratory time and commencement ceremonies are life-lasting. Public health is the most important, however.
