According to WIVB, Regal announced on Tuesday that 11 of their theaters will resume operations in New York State, including two right here in Western New York: the Regal at the Walden Galleria in Cheektowaga, and the Regal at Quaker Crossing in Orchard Park.

“We are grateful to finally have initial guidelines from the state. With the implementation of robust health and safety measures as a part of our commitment to the CinemaSafe protocols, our New York theatres and staff are thoroughly prepared for a safe and sustainable reopening. After seven months, we are thrilled to welcome back our beloved staff and customers,” said Mooky Greidinger, CEO of Cineworld.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced this past Saturday that theaters could reopen on October 23rd in New York State at 25 percent capacity, in counties where the positivity rate was less than 2 percent.

Masks will be required at all times, except when seating and eating or drinking.

There will also be assigned seating at all theaters that reopen and social distancing must be followed at all times.

Regal theaters have been closed in Western New York since March.

I think I've heard people talk about when movie theaters might reopen, especially Regal Cinemas, for what seems like months, so it's nice to see people will be going back to the theaters, albeit under strict social distancing guidelines.
