The Town of Cheektowaga has a hovercraft for sale; check it out for yourself -- it's parked on Union Road with a 'for sale' sign on it.

According to WGRZ, "The town bought the hovercraft brand new for $70,000 in 2011 with the idea that it could be used by the highway department to maintain waterways, or even to rescue stranded Thruway motorists during winter storms." WGRZ explains that due to DEC regulations for proper ramps for the hovercraft -- use of it would be cost-prohibitive.

So, it's been for sale since. It failed to fetch a good enough price at auction, and a recent private sale attempt fell through, according to WGRZ.

WGRZ reports, "Anyone interested in buying the hovercraft can call (716) 686-3422 for more information. For now, the town has not advertised a proposed purchase price."
