If you ever drive along Youngs Road in Amherst, especially at the Wehrle Drive intersection by the ECC North Campus, then you probably know how congested it can get there, particularly weekdays during drive time.

Now, Amherst Town leaders are looking to help alleviate the traffic in that area.

According to WIVB, Town Supervisor Brian Kulpa said the town is looking to widen the area near the intersection of Youngs Road and Wehrle Drive, as well as add in an interchange for the Thruway. Kulpa said this would happen through a proposed partnership with the Greater Buffalo Niagara Transportation Council, the Department of Transportation and the NYS Thruway Authority.

Kulpa added, "the area is especially congested due to the businesses in that area and the fact that it runs to the Buffalo Niagara Airport."

Nothing looks immediate, however, as they are still in the early stages planning and studying traffic patterns.
